“Covered”

Covered with snow…

No one in the neighborhood can remember when we had a snow quite like this! In some places there is a foot of snow; in others, about eight inches. No matter, that’s a lot for us. Our usual precipitation is r-a-i-n. If snow does come here… it’s either a “dusting” or less than an inch.

Snow gives an interesting dressing-up to the mundane, ordinary objects around the house. I never thought our recycling corner would be something to photograph, let alone share with anyone!

Bad news is, the snow has turned to freezing rain. The latest NOAA forecast starts with the red-banded alert:

ICE STORM WARNING…ICE STORM WARNING IN EFFECT UNTIL 10PM PST SUNDAY FOR THE PORTLAND AND VANCOUVER METRO AREA…

Covered for a power outage…

Time to collect the flashlights, emergency candles, extra blankets; and charge up cell phones/ electronics…

Please think good thoughts for our trees…

  1. Hope you survive the next 24 hours without too much inconvenience, Jane. I’m about to go out and water our parched garden after another day over 30C! At least we have not been baked as much as some of our southern and western states.
